THQ Announces Dropcast for DS

So, I don't know if this is old news or anything. Hell, I had never heard of this game before today with a courteous THQ rep called my house and wanted to know if he could send me some stuff about it. I admire chutzpah, so I said yes, of course.

What Dropcast appears to be is one of the first games inspired by Puzzle Quest that looks like it has a shot at being as much fun. I'm not entirely clear on what the block-elimination mechanic is, but I think it's a swapping game a bit like Poker Smash on XBLA. Where it gets interest is on the emphasis on battle multiplayer gameplay, a bit like Puyo Puyo, only the players can throw giant damage effects at each other. I have a personal weakness for this sort of gameplay - yes, I always play Tetris DS mutli with items on - and when you couple it with Dropcast's interesting art design, the result is something that interests me.

To see a bit more of that art design, check out the screens and info behind the cut or go tool around the official site for awhile.THQ may have something very interesting on their hands here.
