Pictures of people smashing in their TVs or other goods with Wii remotes (because the handstrap broke, or more frequently, they weren't using it) have been circulating since the console was new. This person happened to catch on video a typical accident: in this case, a remove flying out of a kid's hand and shattering the glass door of the entertainment center holding the Wii and TV.
It could be worse, though! Anecdote time: when my TV broke after Mario Galaxy came out, it was displaying shades of white as black. This made the Wii menu look like something from World -1. While I was talking to the repair guy fixing the TV, he mentioned that Wii remote accidents involving smashed TV screens are apparently really, really common. He'd replaced three Wii remote-shattered HDTV screens in that month alone.
Use the handstrap, people.

Massive respect for mom keeping her rage in check while the camera was rolling. "Oops! It's...it's all right." Seconds later, torrential profanity.
