The Korg MS-20 is a retro sound synthesizer with quite a cult following among musicians. It's a favorite of Aphex Twin, and produces very distinct sounds. The MS-20 had two oscillators, and a single-oscillator counterpart called the Korg MS-10.
AQ Interactive is a company that ordinarily spends its time publishing terrible Xbox 360 titles. It turns out AQ Interactive is also working on an awesome Nintendo DS project: the Korg DS-10, an attempt to use the Nintendo DS to completely duplicate the sounds and functions of the old Korg MS-10. The sample up on the project's English homepage is pretty convincing.
While the page announces that the Korg DS-10 software is going to be released strictly in Japan, the Nintendo DS plays games from any region and the interface is intended to duplicate the MS-10's as much as possible. Basically, anyone who ever wanted to play with a Korg synthesizer can do so for 4,800 yen, or roughly $50. It'll probably be a bit higher if you're importing, but that's still a fraction of the $500-$800 price range that used Korg MS-10's in good condition seem to be going for on ebay.

Holy crap, that sounds real nice! I'll definitely consider getting this; especially since the actual MS-10 is way overpriced on ebay thanks to analog synth fatties.
